Search visibility

Why doesn't my business show up when people search for what I do?

Because you are being judged in three separate places and most businesses only compete in one. There is the map pack, which takes the largest single share of local clicks. There is organic search below it. And there is the answer someone gets when they ask ChatGPT, Gemini, or Perplexity who to call. A business can rank fine organically and still be invisible in the other two, which is where a growing share of ready-to-buy customers now start.

  • We show you exactly which of the three you are losing, and to whom
  • Local listings, reviews, and citations fixed and kept in sync
  • Pages built so both Google and the AI models can actually read them
What is actually going on

The part most people get wrong

The map pack is a different contest than organic

Ranking in the map pack is decided mostly by your Google Business Profile, your review flow, and whether your name, address, and phone number match everywhere they appear online. None of that is what people picture when they hear the word SEO, and most agencies never touch it. It is also where the largest single share of local clicks goes, according to multiple local-search studies.

AI answers are a third contest, and it is the newest one

When someone asks an AI model who to call in their town, the model reads your site, your listings, and what other sites say about you, then names a short list. Being on that list changes the lead. A customer who arrives because the AI named you shows up already trusting you, half-sold before the phone rings. Most local businesses are not in that conversation at all.

A site can look finished and still be unreadable

Plenty of good-looking sites render their content in the browser rather than serving it in the page, which means the crawlers and the AI models see an empty shell. We have audited sites with hundreds of location pages that returned essentially zero words to an AI crawler. The business paid for all of it and none of it counted.

How we run it

What the work actually is

  1. 1. Measure all three lanes before touching anything

We run your business through the AI models, pull your map-pack position across a grid of your service area, and check what a crawler actually receives from your pages. You get the starting numbers in writing, so everything after this is measured against a real baseline rather than a feeling.

  2. 2. Fix the foundation: listings, reviews, and the profile

Your Google Business Profile gets claimed and completed, your listings get built out and synced so the name, address, and phone match everywhere, and review requests get automated so the flow stops depending on somebody remembering to ask.

  3. 3. Make the site legible to machines

Content served in the page rather than assembled in the browser, structured data that describes what you actually do, and an AI-crawler allowlist so the models are permitted to read you at all. This is the part that decides whether any of the writing counts.

  4. 4. Build the pages the searches actually want

Service pages and location pages at volume, written to answer the specific question a buyer types, with the answer sitting in the first paragraph where both a skimmer and a model can lift it.

  5. 5. Report against the baseline every month

Map-pack position, AI visibility across the models, and the leads that came from search. Tracked to your CRM so you can see which work produced which call.

Our own numbers

We ran this on ourselves first. Advocate 1917 went from 1 synced listing to 45 in thirty days, our local listing score went from 0 to 567 against an industry average of 244, and we moved to #1 on Google Maps for "marketing agency near me" across our own service grid, up from position 5. Screenshots available on the call.

Common mistakes

What we see go wrong

  • Paying for "SEO" that is only blog posts, while the map pack and the profile go untouched.
  • Letting the name, address, and phone drift across directories, which quietly splits the ranking signal.
  • Publishing hundreds of location pages that a crawler receives as blank.
  • Chasing national head terms instead of the searches that happen inside your service area.
  • Treating reviews as something that happens to you rather than a process you run every week.
Best fit

Who this is for

This works best for a local service business with real capacity to fill: you do good work, your customers say so, and the constraint is that not enough of the right people know you exist. Trades, clinics, and professional firms with a defined service area see the fastest movement.

Straight answer

When this is the wrong thing to buy

  • You need leads this week. Search compounds over months. If the schedule is empty right now, paid ads are the honest answer and we will tell you so.
  • You have no capacity to take on more work. More visibility on a full schedule is an expensive way to annoy yourself.
  • You want a guaranteed #1 position in ChatGPT or Google. Nobody honest can promise that, and anyone who does is guessing.
Questions

What people ask before they call

How long does local SEO take to work?

Listings and profile fixes usually move the map pack within 30 to 90 days, because they are corrections rather than a popularity contest. Organic rankings and AI visibility typically take three to six months to move meaningfully. We give you the baseline numbers in month one so you can watch it happen rather than take our word for it.

What does SEO cost at Advocate 1917?

Search work starts at $247 per month for the foundation tier, which covers the rebuilt site, hosting, your Google Business Profile, a minimum of ten managed citations, and live AI-visibility tracking. Active SEO, review automation, and programmatic pages start at $899 per month. There is a six-month minimum because shorter than that cannot show a result.

Can you guarantee I will rank #1?

No, and you should leave any conversation where somebody does. What we guarantee is a written floor of work delivered every month, and reporting that shows exactly what drove each lead. If we miss the floor in a given month, the work rolls forward.

Do I need SEO if I am already running Google Ads?

They solve different problems. Ads buy attention for as long as you pay; search visibility compounds and keeps working after the invoice stops. Most businesses we work with run ads to fill the schedule now and build search visibility so the cost per lead falls over time.

How do I know whether AI models currently recommend my business?

Ask them. Open ChatGPT and ask who the best provider of your service is in your town, then see whether your name appears. If it does not, that is the gap. We run this test live on a call and show you which competitors get named instead.

Do you work with businesses outside Tennessee?

Yes. Advocate 1917 is based in Spring Hill, Tennessee and works with businesses across the United States, Canada, and the UK. Local search work does not require us to be local to you.
